GIIA was pleased to host members, policymakers and friends of the industry and asset class at the UK House of Commons for our annual Parliamentary Reception.
We began our annual celebration, generously sponsored by Curzon, with opening with remarks from our host in Westminster, Lord John Spellar.
Over the course of the evening, highlighted by beautiful weather on the Thames, we were joined by dozens of our members. Chief Executive Jon Phillips thanked guests for joining during his address, taking the opportunity to speak about GIIA’s 10th anniversary year, and marking the growth of our sector’s voice over the past decade – from 19 founder members to more than 130 members today. Phillips remarked that “the UK is one of the world’s most important infrastructure markets”.
Conversations throughout the evening focused on how policymakers can ensure the UK now remains one of the most investable.
As the UK competes for capital on a global stage, policy consistency, clarity and continuity remain crucial determinants of whether investors back Britain’s infrastructure ambitions. This evening reflected a positive step in the dialogue between investors and policymakers.
