GIIA Announces New Acting Chief Executive Officer

The Global Infrastructure Investment Association has appointed Jon Phillips as Acting Chief Executive Officer following the decision by Lawrence Slade to move on from the association after three successful years.

Jon, currently Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Director of Corporate Affairs, joined GIIA in September 2016 - shortly after its foundation - and has played an integral role in the development of the organisation’s membership growth, external profile and member engagement programme over that period. Prior to joining GIIA, Jon had an extensive infrastructure career in both the civil nuclear and aviation sectors.

Jon Phillips said; “In the context of the current global economic climate, promoting the role of private capital in infrastructure has never been more important. We have a strong programme of advocacy across our major markets planned for 2023 and will continue to work with our growing membership to provide helpful market insights and create opportunities to bring our membership network together. I look forward to the opportunity to lead the association during this period.”

GIIA Chairman Christopher Frost said: “GIIA has made further great strides over the last three years and the Board would like to thank Lawrence for his leadership of the association over this period and wish him well in his next role. We have appointed Jon as Acting Chief Executive Officer to ensure continuity and stability for the executive team, our members and stakeholders.”

Lawrence Slade said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at GIIA and am happy to be leaving the organization in a strong place to continue its important work. Thank you to the board, the membership and the fantastic team for their excellent support and I wish you all the best for the next chapter in GIIAs history.”
