UK Parliamentary Reception Summary 2022

We held our first UK Parliamentary Reception at the House of Commons on April 28th, along with our event partners Curzon, which was a huge success and so great to see so many people at our first in-person event of the year.

GIIA CEO Lawrence Slade opened the Reception with a speech that remarked on the urgent need for action to address gaps in the UK’s infrastructure, necessitated by factors including increasingly unpredictable shifts in climate patterns; the unprecedented cost of living crisis and renewed governmental vigour to establish a self-sufficient domestic energy system. Lawrence also highlighted the Reception’s importance in bringing together the key groups of people that have the expertise, influence and determination to help deliver the changes needed, including policy makers, democratically elected representatives and the investor community.

Speeches were also given by our host, John Penrose MP and our keynote speaker, Investment Minister Lord Grimstone, that addressed areas including the regulatory environment and the need for open dialogue and engagement within and between all involved parties, to help ensure that infrastructure improvements continue to be delivered that contribute to meeting key commitments, including Net Zero and levelling up.

With thanks to everyone that attended the outstanding event, our speakers and our event partners, Curzon and our members, for making a very special evening so successful. We look forward to hosting many more in the future.
