The Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) is one of the UK’s largest private pension schemes. USS Investment Management Limited (USSIM) is USS’s principal investment advisor and manages approximately £77bn of assets under management, of which c.£28bn is allocated to private markets. The USS Private Markets Group is a long-term investor across four core asset classes: Infrastructure, Private Equity, Private Credit, and Property. The Private Markets team is around 85 professionals based in the UK.
USS has 30 professionals in the infrastructure team which manages a portfolio of 25+ assets through a mix of minority, majority, and full control positions, across Power & Utilities, Transport & Logistics, Digital and Social infrastructure. USS provides patient, flexible capital and works in partnership with management teams to support the delivery of business plans and generate long-term, sustainable value creation. The Direct Infrastructure team is targeting over £3bn of equity deployment over the next three years focussed primarily on mid-market companies or assets in UK, Europe and N.America.
