About GIIA

From its London Headquarters, GIIA’s Executive Team plans and delivers a programme of global advocacy and stakeholder engagement. The Management Board sets our strategy and policy for the organisation and supports the Executive team in delivering a range of global activities.

Leadership team

  • Christopher Frost

    Christopher was appointed Chair of GIIA in July 2017. He is the Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors of Macquarie Infrastructure Corporation and prior to that was responsible for MIRA’s global Investor Solutions Group, dedicated to new business initiatives, product development, fund formation, capital raising and client relations across the Americas, EMEA and Australasia or Asia Pacific. Throughout his 20 year career at Macquarie, Christopher has led a wide range of initiatives across the globe working with MIRA funds, investor clients, equity partners and portfolio companies. He helped pioneer Infrastructure as an asset class by leading development of MIRA’s first specialist airport investment funds and the development of MIRA’s Real Asset platform working with investors globally. His experience extends across the investment lifecycle, from identifying new opportunities for investor clients and equity partners to developing the teams and strategies to deliver those opportunities.  

  • Lawrence Slade
    Chief Executive Officer

    Lawrence Slade joined GIIA as CEO in January 2020, having most recently been Chief Executive of Energy UK since 2015. He has been involved in the energy industry since the late 1990’s working in countries all over the world. Lawrence is a member of the UK Government’s Committee on Fuel Poverty, an Advisory Board member of Connected Kerb, a Board Trustee and Audit Committee member of the Money Advice Trust (who run the National Debtline and Business Debtline), and  is also a Fellow of the Energy Institute.

  • Jon Phillips
    Director, Corporate Affairs

    Jon joined GIIA as Director, Corporate Affairs in September 2016 with a brief to develop and implement its communications strategy and to extend its membership base. Between 2005-2016, he was Communications Director for the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, a UK government agency established to run the £3 billion a year nuclear clean-up programme. Prior to that, Jon spent 12 years at airport operator BAA Heathrow which included leading on communications for the £4.2 billion T5 project during its planning and construction phases.

    John Kavanagh
    Head of Public Affairs & Policy

    John joined GIIA as Head of Policy and Public Affairs in March 2020 having previously worked in a variety of public affairs and government engagement roles including at the British Business Bank, the UK government’s economic development bank for small business; ACCA the global body for finance and accountancy professionals and High Speed Two Limited, where he built an evidence base to support the  delivery of one of Europe’s largest infrastructure projects.

    Tim Horan
    Communications Manager

    Tim joined GIIA as Communications Manager in April 2018, having previously lead on communications for BritishAmerican Business, working with multinational organisations to promote the transatlantic economic relationship. Prior to this Tim was a member of the External Affairs team at the Food and Drink Federation, representing the UK's largest manufacturing sector. Originally from Sydney, Australia, Tim has largely worked with with industry bodies and membership associations to help raise their profile and drive stakeholder engagement.

  • Joe Robinson
    Policy & Research Executive

    Joe joined GIIA as an intern in July 2019 having previously been a Trainee at the European Investment Bank where he supported the delivery of investment projects in the public sector and utilities across the UK, Netherlands and Ireland. Joe graduated from the University of Bristol with First Class Honours in Politics and International Relations (BSc), with time spent studying abroad at KU Leuven, Belgium and East China Normal University, Shanghai. Joe is also a member of the Inner Temple and holds an MA in law having been awarded the Exhibition and Princess Royal prizes in support of his legal studies.
