About GIIA

GIIA is the membership body for the world's leading infrastructure investors and the advisors to the sector. Our aims are:

1) Make the case for private investment in infrastructure across the world through evidence-based advocacy;
2) Promote improved understanding and dialogue between governments and the private sector to create the right environment for private investment;
3) Foster a community of infrastructure professionals to collectively shape the future of the sector.

Leadership team

  • Christopher Frost
    Chairman

    Christopher was appointed Chair of GIIA in July 2017. He is the Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors of Macquarie Infrastructure Corporation and prior to that was responsible for MIRA’s global Investor Solutions Group, dedicated to new business initiatives, product development, fund formation, capital raising and client relations across the Americas, EMEA and Australasia or Asia Pacific. Throughout his 20 year career at Macquarie, Christopher has led a wide range of initiatives across the globe working with MIRA funds, investor clients, equity partners and portfolio companies. He helped pioneer Infrastructure as an asset class by leading development of MIRA’s first specialist airport investment funds and the development of MIRA’s Real Asset platform working with investors globally. His experience extends across the investment lifecycle, from identifying new opportunities for investor clients and equity partners to developing the teams and strategies to deliver those opportunities.  

  • Lawrence Slade
    Chief Executive Officer

    Lawrence Slade joined GIIA as CEO in January 2020, having most recently been Chief Executive of Energy UK since 2015. He has been involved in the energy industry since the late 1990’s working in countries all over the world. Lawrence is a member of the UK Government’s Committee on Fuel Poverty, an Advisory Board member of Connected Kerb, a Board Trustee and Audit Committee member of the Money Advice Trust (who run the National Debtline and Business Debtline), and  is also a Fellow of the Energy Institute.

  • Jon Phillips
    Deputy CEO & Director of Corporate Affairs

    Jon joined GIIA as Director, Corporate Affairs in September 2016 with a brief to develop and implement its communications strategy and to extend its membership base. Between 2005-2016, he was Communications Director for the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, a UK government agency established to run the £3 billion a year nuclear clean-up programme. Prior to that, Jon spent 12 years at airport operator BAA Heathrow which included leading on communications for the £4.2 billion T5 project during its planning and construction phases.

  • John Kavanagh
    Head of Public Affairs & Policy

    John joined GIIA as Head of Policy and Public Affairs in March 2020 having previously worked in a variety of public affairs and government engagement roles including at the British Business Bank, the UK government’s economic development bank for small business; ACCA the global body for finance and accountancy professionals and High Speed Two Limited, where he built an evidence base to support the  delivery of one of Europe’s largest infrastructure projects.

  • Tim Horan
    Head of Communications

    Tim joined GIIA as Communications Manager in April 2018, having previously lead on communications for BritishAmerican Business, working with multinational organisations to promote the transatlantic economic relationship. Prior to this Tim was a member of the External Affairs team at the Food and Drink Federation, representing the UK's largest manufacturing sector. Originally from Sydney, Australia, Tim has largely worked with with industry bodies and membership associations to help raise their profile and drive stakeholder engagement.

  • Rebecca Jones
    Communications & Events Executive

    Rebecca joined GIIA as a Communications and Events Executive in December 2020, having previously worked in New York City, as a Conference Coordinator for Euromoney Institutional Investor where she coordinated two membership groups for leading investment firms and developed successful international financial conferences and virtual webinars. Rebecca graduated from Newcastle University with an Upper Second Class honours degree in English Literature (BA).

  • Sophie Turner
    Office Manager & PA to CEO

    Sophie joined GIIA as the PA to CEO and Office Manager in December 2020. Prior to this, Sophie has built a long-term career working with some of the leading retailers across the globe. Having worked in London and Sydney, Sophie brings with her a wealth of experience across Operations, Account Management, Recruitment and Training.
